Love em, or hate em, they are out there and sometimes your pupils might just get them.
If you are anywhere near my age band, you'll possibly only ever heard of one acronym when it came to driving and that was the beloved MSM
It was easy to remember (well for me it was), and in the time it took me to have 30+ years driving experience and then choose to become an instructor the game truly changed, and now there's a mitfull of these acronyms out there.
I don't doubt I'll miss loads, and I'm sure our lovely community out there will fill me in with some others that I can add at a later date.
As with many subjects when it comes to the driver training industry, it doesn't matter whether you use them or not, but what does matter is if it make it easier for your pupils to retain the knowledge and understand what it is in a way that makes sense to them, then, well it's worth it, isn't it?
I've had students in the past that couldn't get to grips with something as simple as MSM, but preferred to remember the routine by her children's names!
Her first child was M, second child was S, and third child M.
Who am I to argue differently? If it worked for her then great!
I had another who used the process of putting on her make-up to remember the routine!
So it really doesn't matter what they do or how they remember routines, as long as the remember them.
It may just be a case that they are more beneficial for you rather than your pupil's
But here is a list of the ones I know, the ones that have been elaborated on hugely which i think was truly not necessary, but as I said previously, it doesn't really matter what I think, if it works, it works!
